Sterling: I think it all has to do with perspective. When we think of text messaging, we see/hear about teens sending 75 messages a day and that is what sticks. To get a business owner to allow the use of certain technologies, they need to be put in context that relates directly to what is important to the business. That can present a different problem; When a business has a dated view of itself or the competitive landscape, it is difficult to get them to embrace change. I always start by painting a very clear picture of a day in the life of the Ideal Client and demonstrate what competitors have done to fit into and reduce friction in their flow. Companies often forget that one of their competitors is the IC's lack of time to engage in a transaction. Real or perceived on the part of the client/customer, it makes no difference. In this case, the client/customer's reality is what the business must work with in order to succeed.
